The Sri Lanka Ramayana tour package spans 8 days and is dedicated to exploring significant historical sites related to the Ramayana, as described in the Indian epic, Ramayana in Lanka Pura. Sri Lanka is home to many living witnesses and locations associated with this ancient tale. Itinerary

Day 1 -
Arrival: Visit Munneswaram & Manavari in Chilaw – Transfer to Anuradhapura
• Arrival and transfer to Chilaw (approximately 1.5 hours)
• Visit Munneswaram Hindu Temple & Manavari Hindu Temple in Chilaw
• Transfer to Anuradhapura (approximately 3 hours)
• Dinner and overnight stay in Anuradhapura
Munneswaram Temple: This site is where King Rama prayed to Shiva after committing the worst crime known as Brahmahasti. Lord Shiva blessed Rama and advised him to install and pray at four lingams in five different places to rid himself of the dosham. Munneswaram is a key destination on the Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka.
Manavari Temple: This is the first place where Lord Rama installed and worshipped the Siva lingam. The lingam at the Manavari temple, known as Ramalingam, was erected by Rama himself, making it an important Ramayana site in Sri Lanka.

Day 2 –
Anuradhapura - Trincomalee
• Check out and visit the Ancient City of Anuradhapura (UNESCO World Heritage) (approximately 2 hours)
• Transfer to Trincomalee
• Visit Thirukoneswaram Temple and Lover’s Leap in Trincomalee
• Sightseeing city tour in Trincomalee, including other attractions
• Dinner and overnight stay in Trincomalee hotel
Anuradhapura: Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Anuradhapura is the cradle of Sinhalese Buddhist civilisation. The city is celebrated for its ancient stupas and reservoirs.
Thirukoneswaram Kovil Trincomalee: Built by sage Agasthyar under Lord Shiva’s instructions, who was impressed by King Ravana’s devotion. Uniquely, the lord constructed the temple for his devotee as a reward for his loyalty.

Day 3 –
Trincomalee – Kandy
• Check out and explore further attractions in Trincomalee
• Transfer to Kandy
• En route, visit Dambulla Cave Temple
• En route, stop at the spice garden in Matale for lunch
• Arrive in Kandy and visit Tooth Relic Temple; Kandy sightseeing city tour
• Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy hotel
Kandy: Known as the exotic hill capital and the last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings, Kandy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by hills and centred around a tranquil lake. The Sacred Tooth Relic Temple and Royal Botanical Garden are noteworthy attractions.
Dambulla Cave Temple: Also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.

Day 4 –
Kandy
• Kandy sightseeing city tour
• Visit Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala
• Royal Botanic Gardens in Kandy
• Leisure time in the Kandy hotel
• Enjoy a cultural show in Kandy (Daily at 17:30)
This day offers leisure during the Sri Lanka Ramayana Tour Package, allowing travellers to relax in Kandy for two nights with some free hours.

Day 5 -
Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
• Transfer to Nuwara Eliya (approximately 2 hours)
• En route, visit Sri Bhaktha Hanuman Temple at Ramboda
• Proceed to Nuwara Eliya
• Sightseeing at Nuwara Eliya
• Dinner and overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya
Sri Bhaktha Hanuman Temple: It is believed that Hanuman searched for Sita Devi from a place called “Ravana Goda” near this temple. This is an important Ramayana site in Sri Lanka.

Day 6 –
Nuwara Eliya - Kataragama
• Visit Sita Amman Temple and Askoka Vatika (now Hakgala Botanic Gardens) in Nuwara Eliya
• Transfer to Kataragama (approximately 4 hours)
• En route, visit Divurumpola Buddhist Temple, Ravana Water Falls, and Ravana Caves in Ella
• Arrive in Kataragama
• Dinner and overnight stay in Kataragama
Divurumpola Temple: This is the place where Sita underwent the famous fire ordeal, Agni Pariksha, to prove her chastity after being rescued by Rama. She emerged unscathed, proving her innocence and purity. It is a key Ramayana yatra site in Sri Lanka.
Sita Amman Temple: The only Hindu temple in Sri Lanka dedicated to Princess Sita. It is believed that Sita Devi was kept captive here by King Ravana.

Day 7 -
Kataragama - Colombo
• Visit Kataragama Temple
• Depart for Colombo
• Visit Ussangoda Ramayana Site (Ussangoda National Park)
• Arrive in Galle and visit Rumassala Sanjeevani Mountain
• Visit Galle Dutch Fort (UNESCO World Heritage)
• Transfer to Colombo
• Dinner and overnight stay in Colombo
Kataragama Temple: Dedicated to the God Skanda.
Ussanggoda: Believed to be one of the torched areas during the time of Ramayana. King Ravana is said to have used this flat, hard land to travel on his Pushpak Vimana.

Day 8 -
Departure
• Visit Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple in Colombo
• Colombo sightseeing city tour
• Visit Kelaniya Buddhist Temple (Vibhishana Temple Kelaniya)
• Departure
Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple: The first Anjaneyar Temple in Sri Lanka, dedicated to Lord Hanuman in his Panchamuga (five-faced) form. This is an important Ramayana-related site.
Kelaniya Vibhishana Temple: According to the Ramayana, after King Ravana’s death, King Vibhishana was crowned by Lakshmana. Kelaniya is the place ruled by Vibhishana.
